Empowering people to lead more independent and fulfilling lives is the goal of Sun Healthcare’s learning disability services. We support people to build self-esteem and acquire valuable life skills.

A regular everyday experience for one person can be an extraordinary achievement for someone with learning disabilities.

Supported living services

We work in partnership with family, specialist health and social care teams, local colleges and day services to ensure that the supported person has a coordinated and personalised programme of care. People can also benefit from our supported living services, so, when the time is right, we can help people make the transition from residential care to living in their own home with appropriate help.

At our residential homes, our experienced staff are committed to providing a safe, homely and enabling environment and we put in place a person-centred plan for every resident. Our staff believe in:

– Diversity
– Compassion
– Dignity.

Assisting people to make informed choices about their support and encouraging them to take as much responsibility as possible for their lifestyles is the foundation of everything we do.

“I used to live alone and I was lonely and bored. Living at Shaftsbury, I have made friends, I have my own room which is decorated how I want it. I have daily outings and holidays when I want. I have got my food hygiene certificate and am one of the dignity champions for the home.”
